Description
The Art Teacher is responsible for guiding students in developing their artistic skills and creativity through a range of visual arts techniques and mediums. They will plan and deliver lessons that foster self-expression, critical thinking, and an appreciation for art in various cultural contexts. The Art Teacher will assess students\' progress, encourage experimentation, and create a supportive environment that helps students explore their artistic potential.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or license as required by local or state regulations.
- Strong proficiency in a variety of art techniques and media, including traditional and digital.
- Knowledge of art history and contemporary art practices.
- Ability to guide students in exploring their creativity while building foundational skills.
- Experience in developing art lesson plans that are accessible, engaging, and educational.
- Ability to provide clear instruction and adapt lessons for different learning styles.
- Skills in facilitating constructive critiques and encouraging self-reflection.
- Strong communication skills to convey artistic concepts clearly and inspire students.
- Ability to create a nurturing, supportive environment that encourages artistic growth.
- Interpersonal skills to connect with students, collaborate with faculty, and communicate with parents.
- Ability to create an organized and safe classroom environment.
- Skills in managing classroom dynamics and promoting positive behavior.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop lesson plans that introduce students to various art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art.
- Design lessons that balance technical skill-building with creative exploration.
- Incorporate art history and cultural context into lessons to deepen students’ understanding of different art movements and styles.
- Teach techniques in different mediums, encouraging students to experiment and find their unique styles.
- Demonstrate various artistic methods and provide hands-on guidance to help students master different techniques.
- Encourage students to critically analyze their own work and others’, fostering self-expression and creativity.
- Assess students’ work through portfolios, critiques, and projects, offering constructive feedback to support growth.
- Evaluate students’ progress in both skill development and creative expression.
- Maintain records of students\' achievements and communicate progress with parents as needed.
- Maintain an organized, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Establish safety guidelines for handling art materials and tools.
- Encourage a positive, collaborative atmosphere where students feel comfortable experimenting and sharing ideas.
- Work with other teachers, staff, and school administrators to support the overall arts program.
- Participate in faculty meetings, art exhibitions, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with parents about students\' progress and any challenges.
