Job TypeThe Italian Language Teacher is responsible for teaching Italian language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, to upper-grade students. This role includes creating engaging lesson plans that promote cultural awareness and linguistic proficiency, while fostering a love for the Italian language and culture. The teacher will assess students\' progress, adapt instruction to meet different learning needs, and maintain a positive and encouraging classroom environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Italian, Italian Language Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or license as required by local or state regulations.
- Native or near-native fluency in Italian, with strong knowledge of Italian grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
- Proficiency in English to communicate effectively with non-Italian-speaking colleagues and parents.
- Experience in developing lesson plans that effectively teach language and cultural understanding.
- Ability to use various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and levels.
- Skilled in creating immersive language activities that build confidence and fluency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to teach language concepts clearly.
- Ability to connect with students and create an engaging, supportive learning environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with faculty and communicating with parents.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior, promoting respect and a positive learning environment.

- Integrate Italian cultural topics, such as traditions, literature, and history, to provide context and enrich language learning.
- Assess students’ proficiency through quizzes, exams, oral presentations, and class participation.
- Offer constructive feedback and personalized support to help students improve in areas of difficulty.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and report on achievements as needed.
- Establish a positive, respectful, and immersive Italian-speaking environment.
- Manage classroom behavior constructively, creating an inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to participate.
