How to set up weights?

Common Weights for all Class and Section
Weights to particular Assessment Categories to particular Subjects.

Weight setup is helpful to get an accurate overall score of all subjects which have assessments in Gradebook for the Grading Scales like Grades, Rubrics, and Percentage.

_Note__: Overall score of Grading Scale like_ _Manual Entry_ is calculated manually in Gradebook.

How to setup weights?

– Go to Modules > Manage Assessment & Gradings > Grade Setup(tab) > Manage Weights

_Note__: Before setting up weights you have to setup the assessment category to subjects first. _

1. Common Weights for all Class and Section

You have to enable this option when same weights are shared across all the assessment categories.

In the above example Homework, quiz, Final Exam, Periodic Test have shared the weights across all the subjects.

And hence in Gradebook, you can have all the categories of assessments and overall is calculated accurately

In the above example, the assessments have all the four assessment categories and hence the overall is calculated even though the Grading Scales are different.

_Note__: You can also have accurate overall score even though if you haven’t entered any grades to assessments by enabling the option under Grade Setup(tab) ‘_**_Consider overall score calculation for categories without grade entry?’.

2.  Weights to particular Assessment Categories to particular Subjects.

If category weights are different to particular subjects you can add weights by searching Class or Department and add up weights.

In the above example, Class A-1, Section Semester-1 and Subject CS has weights to assessment categories Homework-0, Quiz-10, Final Exam-50 and Periodic Test-40.

And in Gradebook, you can have the assessments which you have setup weights to the subject.

In the above example the assessments ‘**First Exam**’, ‘**Second Exam**’, ‘**Periodic Test**’ will be considered in overall and ‘**Home Work’**will not be considered because the assessment ‘Home Work’  belongs to the assessment category Homework and it has weight setup zero.

You can also copy weights to other subjects as well by clicking the copy icon.
